Did you know that Haitsma Beton's barriers are already beeing transported to England by boat? In collaboration with the English Highway Care a light concrete barrier has been developed, which connects to the English market. The sophisticated barrier design by Haitsma Beton is now a success story internationally.
Highway Care is a leading company in England in the field of traffic management and -safety. The company looked for concrete barriers for temporary road works. The concrete N2 barrier, developed especially for the foreign market, combines a very compact design with a large absorption of crash energy. "The N2 barrier has been tested full-scale by TASS International with an ASI B and has a W-value of 0.9 meters", says account manager Hendrik Herder of Haitsma Beton.
The barriers are 6 meters long, 655 mm high and 350 mm wide. Each barrier weighs only 1,500 kg: that is 10% lighter than other available systems. This means that more elements can also be transported per load. "We will soon be transporting the first 2 kilometers of barriers to England," says Herder. "The carrier brings the trailers with barriers to the boat, after which the trailers are disconnected. Then the trailers in England are transported to Highway Care by the same carrier, but with another truck."
